Life of Grime
Although not the most glamorous side of the industry, it is a fact that these exist in the community. Century Group’s hazardous waste operatives are specially trained and follow specialist working methods to attend and clean up hazardous environments to include squatter clearances, which often include needles and drugs related hazards. Many sites too contain human waste, abandoned items as well as broken fixtures and fittings which have to all be safely removed and disposed of.
We operate with Health and Safety at the centre of our operations, we complete a comprehensive risk assessment and detail and agree the scope of works required. Operatives wear full personal protective clothing to attend, systematically working through the permitted works. They perform an initial needle and sharps search, to remove the initial hazards and making the environment as safe as possible for further exploration and disposal works. Sharps are segregated and secured in sharps bins and removed from site.
Remaining vigilant with a safety first approach, further items are removed from site and disposed of through commercial licensed waste transfer stations.
Once the environment is deemed safe with the hazards removed further teams can clean throughout and make the location presentable for other trade works to then commence or for client attendance to agree a suitable approach to the properties further use.
